The Co-op chooses The Island as their charity of the year
We’re delighted to announce that all the Co-op stores in the city of York (including Pocklington) have chosen The Island as their charity of the year.
Over the coming weeks, you will see our Island charity tins popping up at the Co-op stores across the city; customers can put their loose change into these tins, which will go towards enhancing the wellbeing of vulnerable children living in York.
Charity tins play a big part of our fundraising efforts as they enable us to reduce our waiting lists considerably, so that children and young people can get the help they need sooner rather than later.
You can find our charity tins at the following stores:
- Co-op Foods, Beckfield Lane, Acomb
- Co-op Foods, Main Street, Bishopthorpe
- Co-op Foods, Foxwood Lane, Foxwood
- Co-op Foods, Broadway, Fulford
- Co-op Foods, East Parade, Heworth
- Co-op Foods, Market Place, Pocklington
- Co-op Foods, Tang Hall Lane, Tang Hall
- Co-op Foods, Hull Road, York
- Co-op Foods, Clarence Street, York
- Co-op Foods, Paragon Street, York
All the money raised at the Co-op will go towards our one to one mentoring programme. Our 12-month mentoring programme is tailored to meet the needs of the child so that they can build on their resilience levels as well as enhance their confidence, self-esteem and overall wellbeing. Our 12-month programme has high success rates in transforming the lives of children and is one of our oversubscribed mentoring services here at The Island, so we really appreciate the Co-op supporting this vital service for children in our city.
On behalf of everyone here at The Island, we would like to thank the Co-op stores in York and Pocklington for choosing us as their charity of the year. We’re really grateful for their support.
