Volunteer Recruitment Evening - Thursday 1 September 2022

Interested in volunteering at The Island? We will shortly hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Evening where you will be able to meet the team, find out more about our charity and ask questions.
Where and when will the Volunteer Recruitment Evening take place?
The event will take place at Beverley House on Shipton Road in York on Thursday 1 September between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
Who is able to attend and how do I express my interest in attending?
Everyone is welcome to attend, however, those interested in mentoring will need to be over the age of 18.
To express you interest in attending the volunteer recruitment evening, please RSVP by emailing enquiries@theislandyork.org letting us know what opportunities you are interested in and what time slot you would like to attend (e.g. 5.30pm, 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm, 7.30pm or 8pm). This is so that we can monitor numbers within the building.
How do I get to Beverley House on Shipton Road?
We do have limited free on-site car parking available, and the number 2 Park and Ride drops off and picks up outside of our building. There is also some on-street car parking available too.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
We’re currently looking for:
- One-to-One Volunteer Mentors (commitment: 52 weeks)
- Group-based Volunteer Mentors (commitment: six months)
- Foxwood Youth Group Volunteers (commitment: six months)
No experience is needed, as we will provide all of our volunteers with full training. We treat all our volunteers as individuals and will try to find you a volunteer role that meets your skills, preferences and time commitments.
