Design workshops
Design workshops have been held with the young people (Mentees), their Mentors and Staff of The Island at each stage of the design process and have been key to the development of these proposals. Further workshops during the subsequent phases are proposed to continue the involvement of the young people and staff in the design and construction process.
Briefing workshop
A briefing workshop to define the types of spaces to be included within the building was held with both the young people and staff at The Island.
Landscape & sustainability workshop
An on-site landscape and sustainability workshop to understand the type of external spaces the young people would like to see on site and their thoughts on sustainability.
Organisation workshop
A building organisation workshop was held with the staff of The Island, defining the key functions and relationships of the proposed spaces within the building.
Appearance workshop
An external appearance workshop held with the young people to get their thoughts on how the building might look and materials they would like to see used in the construction.
The next phase was to develop the design concepts, following discussions with the young people and staff at The Island.
